Our School

St. Therese Classical Learning began as a PreK-12 school in Washingtonville, New York, becoming the first Classical Education institution in the Hudson Valley. Now, the school has blossomed into St. Therese Classical Academy for Grades K-8 and Chesterton Academy of St. Therese for Grades 9-12.

The mission of both schools is to give children an education that teaches them how to think, not what to think.

Our Philosophy

At the Saint Therese Classical Academy, we believe that each child is a gift from God and blessed by Him with unique talents and abilities. Using the Classical Trivium and Quadrivium along with the study of history, science, and literature, students will be given the tools necessary to grow and fulfill the vocation God has planned for them.

Classical Education?

What is Classical Education?



Classical education is the authoritative, traditional and enduring form of education, begun by the Greeks and Romans, developed through history and now being revived.



The Trivium: grammar, logic, and rhetoric are the pervasive subjects in a classical curriculum followed by the four disciplines of Mathematics in the Quadrivium: arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy.



All subjects are not self-contained. They are interwoven and naturally cross-curricular. History, grammar, logic, Latin, religion, and even science and mathematics blend together in harmony.

Why a Classical Education?

The classically educated child will be properly formed and instilled with virtuous study and work habits.
