Mrs. Azmitia started her arts career in music and theatre. She was very active in all aspects of musical theatre and drama during the late 80's into the early 2000's. Carlise Azmitia has directed, assistant directed, musically directed, costume and set designed plays/musicals such as ' Fiddler on the Roof', 'The Star Spangled Girl', 'The Sound of Music', 'Brigadoon', and the opera 'Don Giovanni' to name a few. A few highlights of her career include winning local theatrical awards in the state of Florida during the 90's for lead actress (Barefoot in the Park), costume design (Oklahoma), and music direction (Oliver).
A classically trained soprano for over 30 years, Carlise has sung at the Bardavon Opera house, Greater Newburgh Chorale, City of Middletown Chorus, and the SUNY Orange Madrigals. She has also performed several solo recitals over the years, as well as, sung as a solo guest at several churches throughout the area. Mrs. Azmitia has studied voice with Dr. Elizabeth Graham (FL - retired), Dr. Ronald Burrichter (FL - retired), Sari Gian (FL), Jody Weatherstone (NY), Stephen O'Mara (NY - retired), Debbie Portzline (NY) and the late Claudia Cummings (NY).
Carlise Azmitia received a professional diploma from New York Institute of Photography in 2008 and followed that with a thriving portrait photography business for over 12 years. In 2017, Mrs. Azmitia was hired to instruct photography and choir at St. Therese Classical Academy. Last year her duties expanded into teaching art and helping with the administrative duties.
You can find Carlise most days cozy at home with her husband, teenage daughter and her handful of cats. She enjoys crafting of any kind and regularly volunteers to teach/judge at various art leagues/programs.
