Ms. Moeckel Biography

Lauren is a classically trained pianist who is enthusiastic about teaching piano and music. She has over 20 years of piano study and over 10 years of piano teaching experience.

Her repertoire includes music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Impressionistic periods and Sacred Music.

In her teaching, she continues to explore different piano methods and adds her own creative ideas. This encourages her students to be enthusiastic about learning to play the piano.

She also understands the importance of making the lessons educational yet fun at the same time.

Lauren enjoys learning Gregorian Chant, Sacred Music and traditional Catholic hymns.

In the Liturgy of the Mass, she has a passion for providing music that adds prayer, beauty and holiness to the Mass.

Her mission is to expand the Traditional Sacred Music and also educate and expose others to the beauty of Sacred Music.

Lauren studied the Dorothy Taubman piano technique at the Cali School of Music (Montclair State University).

She also attended the Dorothy Taubman Piano Festival at MSU.

Lauren has been studying the Alexander Technique since 2018 with Valerie Van Hoven who is an adjunct professor at Montclair State University.

The Alexander Technique helps musicians to have good practice habits which builds confidence, ease and proper use at the piano .

She studied piano with Margaret Moeckel who studied with Isabelle Yalkovsky Byman. She also studied piano with Victoria Dondysh who studied with Byron Janis.

She studied organ with Joseph Wozniak at Saint Aloysius Church in West Caldwell, New Jersey and David Tisbert who is currently the organist/music director at Saint Joseph’s Church in Bronxville, New York.

Lauren is currently the organist/singer at Holy Name of Mary Church in Montgomery, New York and Immaculate Conception Church in Franklin, New Jersey.

She is currently teaching piano at Saint Therese classical academy and her studio in New Jersey.
